Vietnam condemns unauthorized construction in Paracel Islands

Vietnam has registered strong opposition to unauthorized land reclamation and construction work in the Hoang Sa Islands, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 28. Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang confirmed that Hanoi has submitted formal diplomatic representations to relevant parties, underscoring the nation's rejection of what it characterizes as illegal activities in the disputed waters.
The Ministry's position reflects Vietnam's consistent stance on protecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty over the Paracel Islands. Hanoi has repeatedly called for the immediate cessation of such activities, which it argues violate international law and escalate tensions in the region.
The announcement comes amid ongoing disputes over maritime boundaries and island territories in the South China Sea.
