Vietnam's petrol and diesel prices fell on October 15 as the government implemented a fresh round of adjustments to domestic fuel costs. The price reductions came as authorities moved to manage inflationary pressures on consumers amid volatile global energy markets.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated the revision, which also extended to fuel oil pricing. Officials drew 500 Vietnamese dong per kilogram from the national fuel stabilization fund to moderate cost increases for fuel oil, drawing on a temporary advance from the state budget to support the measure.
The adjustment reflects ongoing efforts by Vietnam's government to balance market-driven pricing mechanisms with social protections for consumers and businesses. Domestic petrol and diesel prices had experienced upward pressure in previous weeks, prompting intervention through the stabilization fund.
Vietnam's fuel pricing system remains subject to periodic reviews based on international crude oil benchmarks and domestic market conditions. The government has previously signaled its intention to pursue broader reforms to the fuel distribution framework to enhance efficiency and transparency.
