Vietnam has demonstrated consistent commitment to tax cooperation with the European Council and EU member states under the framework of the Vietnam-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang said at a regular press briefing.
The tax coordination effort represents a key pillar of Vietnam's broader engagement with the EU, which also encompasses trade and investment matters. Officials highlighted that cooperation on tax-related issues falls within established bilateral mechanisms designed to foster responsible economic cooperation.
The development comes as Vietnam navigates shifting dynamics in its EU trade relationship. Vietnamese exporters have faced mounting pressure in European markets, with officials acknowledging the need for mutually beneficial arrangements.
Vietnam and the EU continue to work through formal channels to address economic priorities. The two sides recently held their seventh meeting of the Joint Committee, reflecting ongoing diplomatic engagement aimed at advancing shared interests and ensuring fairness in bilateral trade relations.
Regional observers note that tax cooperation initiatives underscore Vietnam's strategy of deepening institutional ties with major trading partners while addressing emerging compliance and regulatory challenges.
