Vietnam deputy PM pushes to clear obstacles blocking key industrial projects

Key projects spanning industrial development, trade expansion, and construction have been identified as critical drivers for economic growth and infrastructure modernization. Government officials have emphasized that these initiatives are essential for boosting production capacity, strengthening national infrastructure, securing energy supplies, and enhancing Vietnam's economic competitiveness in the region.

The push to clear project obstacles comes as Vietnam accelerates preparations for hosting APEC 2027. Phu Quoc, the designated venue for major APEC events, has already disbursed more than 49 percent of planned capital for related infrastructure projects this year, signaling the government's priority on meeting development timelines.

Plans for Phu Quoc International Airport have been revised to accommodate increased demand from the APEC forum, with airport authorities introducing infrastructure features described as unprecedented for the region. These adjustments reflect broader efforts to ensure that major transport and hospitality facilities meet international standards for the high-profile economic gathering.

The removal of administrative and logistical bottlenecks is expected to accelerate project timelines across multiple sectors, potentially unlocking additional economic momentum ahead of the 2027 summit.
