The newly formed APEC 2027 National Committee will be responsible for overseeing Vietnam's preparations to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, a key diplomatic and economic event for the region. Deputy PM Tuc will lead the high-level body, which includes representation from multiple government agencies critical to the summit's success.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung will serve as Vice Chairman, reflecting the diplomatic significance of the upcoming conference. The committee also includes Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan and several deputy ministers, ensuring coordination across economic, infrastructure, and administrative sectors.
Simultaneously, Vietnam is accelerating infrastructure upgrades to support the event. Phu Quoc International Airport has revised its development plans to enhance capacity and facilities, while local authorities are strengthening the island's power systems to handle increased demand during the forum. The upgrades are expected to position Phu Quoc as a premium destination beyond the conference period.
Vietnam views APEC 2027 as an opportunity to drive economic growth through increased visitor spending and extended tourism stays. Officials are exploring synergies between the major regional conference and emerging tourism partnerships, including gastronomic offerings such as Michelin-starred dining experiences, to maximize long-term benefits for host regions.
