Vietnam eyes APEC 2027 hosting as major diplomatic priority through 2030

Vietnam's government has designated hosting the APEC 2027 summit as a key foreign affairs priority extending through the end of the decade, according to senior diplomatic officials. Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that the upcoming forum would demand comprehensive preparations and organizational efforts proportionate to its importance and scale within the Asia-Pacific region.

The APEC hosting responsibility is expected to create significant opportunities for Vietnam to advance its economic integration agenda and strengthen partnerships with major trading partners across the region. Government agencies have begun coordinating efforts to ensure the summit meets international standards and showcases Vietnam's development achievements.

Infrastructure development is already underway to accommodate the conference. An Giang province, a potential venue location, is accelerating construction projects and tourism sector improvements to prepare for the event. Officials view the preparations as an opportunity to enhance both regional connectivity and Vietnam's profile as a capable international host.

The multi-year focus on APEC 2027 reflects the government's assessment that the summit represents a strategic platform for advancing Vietnam's foreign policy objectives and deepening regional economic cooperation during a period of evolving geopolitical dynamics in Southeast Asia.
