Vietnam hails Russia's visa exemption for Vietnamese travelers

Russia's decision to grant visa-free entry to Vietnamese nationals reflects deepening diplomatic and people-to-people ties between Moscow and Hanoi. The policy, enacted via presidential decree on October 12, streamlines travel procedures for Vietnamese citizens seeking to visit Russia, eliminating the need for advance visa processing at Russian diplomatic missions.

The exemption is expected to boost tourism flows between the two nations and facilitate business engagements. Vietnamese travelers will now enjoy simplified border crossing procedures, reducing bureaucratic hurdles that previously complicated short-term visits to Russia.

The visa waiver aligns with broader regional trends toward travel facilitation. Vietnam has similarly pursued visa exemption agreements with multiple countries to enhance tourism competitiveness. Egypt has separately confirmed it will grant visa-on-arrival privileges for Vietnamese citizens, while Vietnam itself has piloted visa exemption programs for select international tour groups, including Chinese visitors to Khanh Hoa province.

Diplomatic analysts view Russia's move as part of efforts to strengthen economic and cultural exchanges with Asian partners at a time of shifting geopolitical alignments in the region.
