Vietnam intensifies preparations for landmark APEC Year 2027

Vietnam convened a high-level workshop in Hanoi on October 1 to accelerate preparations for its role as APEC host in 2027, bringing together representatives from ministries, provincial governments, business sectors and international partners. The gathering, titled "Preparing for APEC Year 2027: Strengthening Capacity for Effective Organisation and Coordination," aimed to align strategies and exchange lessons learned from previous APEC hosting nations.

Offcials emphasized that hosting APEC 2027 presents a critical opportunity for Vietnam to deepen economic integration and enhance its standing within the Asia-Pacific region. The workshop focused on identifying coordination mechanisms and building institutional capacity across multiple government levels to manage the complex logistics of the regional summit.

Several provinces including An Giang are already advancing infrastructure projects to support the summit. Tourism development initiatives and transportation upgrades are underway to accommodate the influx of international delegates and ensure Vietnam presents a favorable image as host nation.

The preparatory process underscores Vietnam's commitment to leveraging the APEC platform for broader economic engagement. By establishing robust inter-agency coordination now, officials believe Vietnam can translate the hosting responsibility into concrete benefits for trade, investment and regional connectivity in the coming years.
