Vietnam joins Artemis Accords, deepening space partnership with US

Vietnam has formally joined the Artemis Accords, a multilateral framework governing principles for peaceful space exploration. The accession represents a milestone in the deepening relationship between Hanoi and Washington, extending their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into new areas of scientific and technological collaboration.

The Artemis Accords establish guidelines for nations participating in lunar exploration and broader space activities, emphasizing principles of transparency, safety, and the peaceful use of outer space. By becoming a signatory, Vietnam positions itself among nations committed to responsible space exploration practices.

The development underscores the United States' commitment to expanding cooperation with Vietnam across multiple sectors, including defense, trade, and technology. Officials have emphasized that the partnership encompasses economic, trade, and investment dimensions alongside security and scientific endeavors.

Vietnam is also playing an active role in regional economic initiatives, encouraging greater participation by American businesses in APEC activities scheduled for 2027, when the nation assumes the chair of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. The country continues to seek enhanced engagement with international partners across diverse sectors.
