Vietnam joins Artemis Accords, signals commitment to peaceful space exploration

Vietnam's adoption of the Artemis Accords demonstrates the country's commitment to peaceful, safe and transparent use of outer space in accordance with international law. The framework, which promotes equitable and sustainable space exploration, aligns with Vietnam's broader objective to strengthen its science and technology sector as a driver of national development.

Government officials have emphasized that space science and technology represent a strategic priority for Vietnam, offering opportunities to enhance domestic research capabilities while generating tangible benefits for citizens and environmental sustainability. By joining the accords, Vietnam positions itself alongside other nations committed to responsible space activities.

The accession comes as Vietnam looks to expand collaborative partnerships in space exploration and scientific research. Enhanced cooperation with fellow signatory nations is expected to facilitate technology transfer, joint research initiatives, and capacity-building programs that support Vietnam's long-term development ambitions.

Vietnam's participation in the Artemis framework reflects broader legislative efforts to strengthen the country's science and technology ecosystem, including ongoing discussions to streamline regulatory conditions for the sector. Officials view the move as part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure space exploration activities remain peaceful and benefit both current and future generations.
