Prime Minister Le Minh Hung of Vietnam held talks with his Laotian counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith, focusing on bolstering the strategic partnership between the two neighboring nations. The meeting underscored the importance of defense and security cooperation as a fundamental pillar supporting broader bilateral ties.

The two leaders endorsed enhanced coordination on maintaining security and political stability within their respective territories, while establishing mechanisms to jointly address emerging transnational challenges. Priority areas for cooperation include combating drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling operations, and emerging high-tech crimes that threaten regional stability.

Border management and protection of the Vietnam-Laos frontier also featured prominently in discussions, with both sides committing to strengthen collaborative mechanisms along their shared boundary. The agreement reflects the two countries' mutual interest in preventing cross-border criminal activities and maintaining peace in the region.

The bilateral engagement marks a continued elevation of Vietnam-Laos relations, building on their long-standing ties rooted in historical solidarity. Both governments emphasized the need for practical, substantive cooperation that translates strategic commitments into concrete security outcomes for their citizens.
