Vietnam, Laos strengthen party cooperation against digital misinformation

Vietnam and Laos are deepening cooperation between their party bodies to tackle the growing threat of misinformation in the digital environment, according to officials overseeing ideological and communications work in both countries. The initiative reflects mounting concerns about how artificial intelligence and digital platforms are being leveraged to spread false information and undermine party messaging. Trinh Van Quyet, head of the Communist Party of Vietnam's Commission for Publicity, emphasized that both nations are actively conducting ideological work, communications efforts, and press operations to safeguard their parties' foundational principles amid these escalating digital challenges. The enhanced coordination between Hanoi and Vientiane reflects a broader regional effort to protect institutional narratives in an increasingly connected Southeast Asia. The two neighboring communist nations have outlined plans to strengthen personnel training in communications and ideological work as part of their strategy to build capacity for combating digital threats.
