Senior leaders from Vietnam and Laos have emphasised the importance of deepening cooperation between their respective mass organisations, signalling a push to expand people-to-people engagement between the two neighbours.

During high-level talks, Vietnamese officials stressed that leadership from both parties and governments, including Laos' National Assembly President, should provide ongoing support and favourable conditions for the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Lao Front for National Construction to strengthen their ties.

The organisations play a crucial role in mobilising and uniting citizens across all sectors to participate in national construction and development efforts, officials noted. Enhanced cooperation between the two fronts is expected to facilitate deeper exchange of experiences and best practices.

The initiative gains significance as both nations approach 2027, when they will mark major milestones in their bilateral relationship. Diplomatic observers view the emphasis on grassroots-level cooperation as part of a broader strategy to reinforce the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Laos' top legislator, who visited Vietnam for the talks, expressed backing for expanded collaboration activities between the two countries' legislative and civil society bodies. Such engagement is seen as complementary to existing government-to-government initiatives.
