The Vietnamese government has initiated GoGlobal, a comprehensive programme designed to strengthen the private sector's international competitiveness and market presence. The initiative targets measurable outcomes over the next six years, reflecting policymakers' commitment to expanding the country's economic footprint globally.
Under the programme's targets through 2030, authorities plan to provide training to at least 10,000 businesses seeking to internationalise their operations. The scheme will also extend internationalisation consulting services to approximately 1,000 enterprises, helping them navigate the complexities of entering and operating in foreign markets.
GoGlobal allocates specific support for more advanced stages of business expansion. The programme will assist 100 firms in undertaking overseas investment projects and help another 100 businesses integrate into regional or global value chains. Such integration is considered critical for Vietnamese enterprises to remain competitive in increasingly interconnected markets.
The initiative reflects Vietnam's broader strategy to shift from labour-intensive manufacturing toward higher-value economic activities. By equipping domestic businesses with internationalisation capabilities, the programme aims to foster sustainable growth and reduce reliance on traditional export sectors. Success in these efforts could position Vietnamese enterprises as regional players in specialised industries and global supply networks.
