The Vietnam News Agency has established a comprehensive framework for integrating artificial intelligence into journalism operations while preserving editorial standards and public trust. The proposal centres on four key consensus points designed to ensure responsible AI deployment across the news industry, coupled with five concrete joint actions to implement these principles.
As Vietnam's national news agency, VNA is tasked with delivering accurate, timely and reliable information to the public. To meet this obligation amid rapid changes in the digital media landscape, the agency has undertaken digital transformation initiatives across three critical areas: technological infrastructure, news production workflows, and human resource development.
The framework addresses growing concerns about AI's role in journalism, particularly regarding accuracy, bias and editorial oversight. By establishing shared consensus points with industry partners, VNA aims to create standards that enhance news production efficiency without compromising journalistic quality or public confidence.
The proposed joint actions are intended to create practical mechanisms for implementing responsible AI practices across newsrooms. This collaborative approach reflects recognition that sustainable AI integration in journalism requires coordinated effort among major media institutions and news agencies operating across the region.
