Vietnam has signaled its intention to deepen engagement with United Nations peacekeeping operations, with senior diplomatic officials emphasizing the country's commitment to improving mission effectiveness and long-term sustainability.

Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hai Luu, Vietnam's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, articulated the country's priorities during recent discussions on peacekeeping operations. Vietnam intends to work in tandem with the UN secretariat and partner nations to strengthen operational capacity and address emerging challenges in conflict zones.

The statement comes as Vietnam continues to expand its peacekeeping footprint internationally. Vietnamese personnel have been rotated to peacekeeping missions in strategic locations including Abyei and South Sudan, where Vietnamese units have successfully completed assigned operations in accordance with UN mandates.

Vietnam's growing participation in UN peacekeeping represents a significant contribution to international peace and security efforts. The country's engagement reflects its commitment to multilateral cooperation and its role as a constructive stakeholder in regional and global stability initiatives.

The UN has previously expressed support for Vietnam's expanded involvement in peacekeeping operations, recognizing the quality and professionalism of Vietnamese personnel deployed to missions worldwide.
