Vietnam's performance in the World Intellectual Property Organization's 2026 Global Innovation Index reflects the country's commitment to emerging as a regional innovation hub, WIPO's general director said during recent discussions with Vietnamese officials.
The WIPO chief noted that Vietnam's innovation results should be understood within the framework of the country's Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, a key policy document that prioritizes science, technology, and innovation as critical drivers for economic modernization and global competitiveness.
Vietnam and WIPO have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation on intellectual property matters and support the country's broader innovation objectives. The partnership is expected to strengthen Vietnam's capacity in patent protection, technology transfer, and research commercialization.
The collaboration underscores Vietnam's recognition that robust intellectual property frameworks are essential for attracting investment in high-value sectors and nurturing domestic innovation capabilities. Officials said the WIPO partnership will help Vietnam align its IP systems with international best practices while advancing the nation's digital transformation agenda.
