Vietnam is well-positioned to emerge as a regional leader in robotics manufacturing and innovation, leveraging its existing industrial strengths and investment climate, according to leading academics in the field. The country's robust manufacturing base, extensive network of industrial parks, and consistent foreign direct investment inflows provide a solid foundation for robotics sector development.
Associate Professor Duong Minh Hai of the National University of Singapore highlighted Vietnam's technical workforce as a critical asset, noting that the country combines multiple competitive advantages necessary for sustainable robotics industry growth. However, experts emphasize that mastering core integration technologies remains essential for translating these structural advantages into competitive market positioning.
International collaboration is emerging as a priority pathway for accelerating Vietnam's robotics capabilities. Potential partnerships with European nations, particularly Italy, could facilitate technology transfer and joint development initiatives while strengthening Vietnam's role within the broader ASEAN robotics ecosystem.
Analysts suggest that deepening participation in regional robotics networks would enable Vietnamese manufacturers to access larger supply chains, facilitate knowledge sharing, and establish standards-based production practices. Such positioning could transform Vietnam from a component supplier into a systems integrator and innovation hub within Southeast Asia's rapidly evolving robotics landscape.
