Vietnam is moving to attract major tourism investments through a package of financial incentives designed to encourage development of large-scale hospitality and entertainment complexes. According to government proposals under consideration by lawmakers, tourism projects valued at VND30 trillion (approximately US$1.16 billion) or above would become eligible for corporate income tax exemptions lasting up to four years. The incentive scheme also permits qualifying projects to operate under extended concession periods of up to 70 years, providing long-term operational certainty for major investors.
The proposed measures represent part of Hanoi's broader strategy to position Vietnam as a premier destination for regional tourism and entertainment. The framework would allow large developments to establish around-the-clock entertainment zones, opening new avenues for hospitality operators to diversify revenue streams and extend business hours beyond traditional constraints.
The initiative reflects government recognition that Vietnam faces intensifying competition from neighboring countries seeking to capture regional tourism spending. By offering extended tax holidays and operational flexibility, policymakers aim to reduce financial barriers and regulatory uncertainty that might otherwise deter substantial foreign and domestic investment in the sector.
The National Assembly is expected to review the proposals as part of broader efforts to modernize Vietnam's investment framework and accelerate economic growth through tourism development. Officials have indicated that approved projects would contribute significantly to job creation, infrastructure development, and foreign exchange earnings.
