Vietnam is intensifying efforts to engage the US business community in preparations for its hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in 2027, viewing American participation as crucial to the year's success.
John Goyer, Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce, affirmed the organization's readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese counterparts and leverage its extensive international business networks to contribute substantively to APEC 2027 activities.
Preparations for the hosting year are already underway, with infrastructure projects being prioritized. Adjustments to Phu Quoc International Airport planning have been made to accommodate the anticipated influx of delegates and business leaders expected for the forum.
Beyond economic cooperation, Vietnam and American firms are also exploring deeper collaboration in defense and security industries, reflecting the broader strategic partnership between the two nations. A delegation of leading US businesses has held high-level meetings with Vietnamese government officials, including the Prime Minister, to discuss cooperation opportunities across multiple sectors.
The push for enhanced US business involvement underscores Vietnam's strategy to make its APEC presidency a showcase for regional economic integration and private-sector engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
