Vietnam recognises scientific innovation driving agricultural value growth

The Vietnam Farmers' Union Central Committee has recognised 42 scientists and awarded 24 farmers for technical innovations that are transforming the nation's agricultural landscape. The honours reflect a broader shift towards science-based farming practices designed to enhance production efficiency and strengthen Vietnam's position in global agricultural markets.

The recognised initiatives emerge directly from practical farming challenges, addressing real-world production constraints faced by growers across the country. By combining scientific expertise with on-the-ground agricultural knowledge, these projects have demonstrated tangible improvements in crop yields, resource management and product quality.

Beyond production gains, the innovations are opening new commercial opportunities for Vietnamese farmers. Enhanced farm products are gaining traction in international markets, while digital platforms are enabling direct access to wider consumer bases. Simultaneously, agricultural tourism initiatives are linking farm produce with One Commune One Product (OCOP) schemes and traditional crafts, creating integrated value chains that benefit rural communities.

The expansion of Vietnamese agricultural products into new markets, including significant recent inroads into Russian retail channels, underscores the competitive advantage that science-driven improvements provide. As farming becomes increasingly technology-enabled, Vietnam's agricultural sector is positioning itself for sustained growth in both domestic and international markets.
