Vietnam's commercial aviation sector has reached a significant milestone with a combined fleet of 261 aircraft across domestic operators, reflecting the country's growing air transport capacity and rising passenger demand.
Low-cost carrier Vietjet leads the expansion with 107 registered aircraft, comprising 16 Airbus A320s, 83 A321s, and eight A330 wide-body jets. The airline has been aggressive in fleet modernization to support both domestic services and expanding international routes ahead of the year-end travel surge.
National carrier Vietnam Airlines operates 94 aircraft, including four A320s, 59 A321s, 14 A350s, and 17 Boeing 787s. The carrier has announced plans to lease an additional 19 Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, signaling continued investment in fleet capacity as international connectivity becomes increasingly central to the carrier's strategy.
Regional carriers are also bolstering their operations. Vietravel Airlines is expanding its international network with newly acquired aircraft, while Sun PhuQuoc Airways has been developing its wide-body fleet with eight large-capacity jets to serve long-haul routes from southern Vietnam.
The fleet expansion underscores Vietnam's position as a key aviation hub in Southeast Asia, with carriers investing substantially to capture growing travel demand driven by rising incomes, tourism growth, and increased business connectivity across the region.
