Vietnam's digital ID platform expands services to millions of daily users

Vietnam's VNeID digital identification platform is processing transactions for between three to six million users daily, positioning itself as a central hub for online public services across the nation. The system currently offers 77 distinct features spanning multiple government service categories, reflecting a comprehensive approach to digitizing administrative functions.

Integration of essential citizen data has accelerated platform adoption, with approximately 19.1 million social security and payment account details now accessible through VNeID. This consolidation of previously fragmented records has simplified access to benefits and financial services, reducing the need for citizens to navigate multiple government portals.

The expansion reflects broader administrative reform efforts emphasizing tangible outcomes over procedural changes. With roughly 87 percent of Vietnamese citizens holding bank accounts, the financial infrastructure exists to support widespread digital service adoption, though government agencies continue efforts to increase VNeID penetration among remaining population segments.

Local authorities have begun leveraging artificial intelligence and data analytics to enhance digital service delivery, building on VNeID's foundational infrastructure. These initiatives signal a shift toward leveraging technology and citizen data to make public services more accessible and efficient across Vietnam's diverse regions and economic sectors.
