Vietnam's healthcare system accelerates digital transformation in 2026

Over three-quarters of healthcare facilities across Vietnam have begun implementing electronic medical records systems, marking a substantial shift toward digitalization in the country's medical sector. The transition underscores efforts by authorities to enhance efficiency and accessibility in healthcare delivery during the initial nine months of this year.

Simultaneously, Vietnam Social Security has successfully integrated health insurance data from across the entire healthcare system, achieving complete connectivity with all covered medical examination and treatment records. This comprehensive data integration enables improved coordination between providers and insurance administrators, streamlining administrative processes that traditionally slowed patient care.

The digital transformation aligns with Vietnam's broader healthcare strategy to address demographic shifts, particularly the growing needs of an aging population. By centralizing medical information and reducing bureaucratic redundancies, the system aims to improve the quality and speed of healthcare services while controlling costs.

Daytime healthcare services have emerged as a practical response to these demographic pressures, offering periodic health check-ups designed for cost efficiency without compromising quality outcomes. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, over 5 million residents have participated in free periodic health check-up programs, reflecting strong public engagement with preventive healthcare measures.

These coordinated initiatives demonstrate Vietnam's commitment to building a more responsive and technologically advanced healthcare system capable of meeting evolving population health needs.
