Vietnam's inflation trajectory remained steady in the first ten months of 2026, with the consumer price index rising 4.57% year-over-year, according to latest data released by statistical authorities. The increase reflects broad-based price pressures across the economy, though at a moderate pace relative to historical standards.

Month-over-month, price movements were mixed across Vietnam's main consumer goods and services categories. Seven of eleven major groups recorded price increases, while four experienced declines. This divergence suggests selective inflationary pressure concentrated in specific sectors rather than across-the-board cost escalation.

Regional analysis showed that urban centers and rural areas experienced comparable monthly gains. Urban areas registered a 0.16% month-on-month increase, while rural regions saw a slightly larger 0.25% rise, pointing to relatively uniform price dynamics nationwide.

The inflation reading comes as provincial economies across Vietnam show varying price pressures. Earlier data indicated Bac Ninh province recorded a 4.07% year-on-year gain through nine months, while Hanoi's September inflation stood at 0.81% on a monthly basis, underscoring regional differences in price trajectories.
