Vietnam's top leader has called for a strategic pivot toward building comprehensive national logistics capacity, underscoring its critical role across the entire economy. General Secretary and President To Lam stressed that logistics infrastructure is not merely a sectoral economic issue but rather a cross-cutting concern that affects the nation's ability to organize, connect and operate efficiently. The positioning of logistics as a strategic priority reflects its direct linkage to national competitiveness, economic self-reliance, resilience and national defence and security considerations.
The emphasis on logistics development has gained momentum through initiatives including the Autumn Economic Forum 2026, which has prioritized green logistics and advanced manufacturing as key pillars for sustainable growth. Policymakers are actively seeking measures to remove bottlenecks that currently impede supply chain efficiency and inflate logistics costs across the economy. These efforts are expected to enhance Vietnam's overall economic performance and reduce operational burdens on businesses.
Regional initiatives complement the national strategy, with provinces such as Tay Ninh setting ambitious targets to develop logistics infrastructure. Tay Ninh province has targeted the establishment of at least three major logistics centres by 2030, reflecting broader provincial commitments to strengthen distribution networks and improve connectivity across the region.
