Vietnam's leaders push for enhanced strategic advisory capacity

Vietnamese leadership has renewed calls for enhanced strategic advisory and forecasting capabilities as the country navigates complex development challenges. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the International Monetary Fund's role as a strategic policy advisory partner, underscoring the value of external expertise in shaping domestic economic strategy.

Senior officials stressed that advisory quality should not be measured simply by the number of reports or projects produced. Instead, the focus should be on whether research effectively identifies emerging issues early, accurately diagnoses root causes, recommends appropriate policy responses, and delivers practical solutions to real-world problems.

The military has also been called upon to strengthen its strategic advisory function and enhance forecasting capacity to support broader national objectives. Party inspectors approved a Central Military Commission report and called for personnel reforms aimed at bolstering the armed forces' role in providing high-quality strategic guidance.

The emphasis on advisory quality reflects Vietnam's broader effort to strengthen institutional capacity and evidence-based policymaking as the country faces evolving economic and security challenges in the region.
