Vietnam's Long Thanh Airport Set for December 24 Launch

Long Thanh International Airport, one of Southeast Asia's most anticipated aviation infrastructure projects, will officially begin commercial operations on December 24, marking a significant milestone for Vietnam's transportation sector. The new airport represents a major expansion of the country's aviation capacity and is expected to substantially enhance connectivity across the region.

Upon its opening, the airport will operate approximately 30 flights per day, consisting of four international routes alongside domestic services. This initial flight schedule reflects a measured approach to ramping up operations as the facility establishes its operational procedures and builds passenger volumes.

The airport's launch comes after years of development and positions Vietnam to better accommodate growing air traffic demand. Long Thanh is anticipated to eventually become the primary international gateway for Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region, supplementing existing facilities and supporting the country's continued economic growth and increased international connectivity.

The opening will relieve capacity pressures on Vietnam's current major airports and provide enhanced travel options for passengers throughout the country. Officials have emphasized the strategic importance of the new facility in supporting regional commerce and tourism development.
