Long Thanh International Airport, located in southern Vietnam's Dong Nai Province, is on track to begin commercial operations before year-end, according to project authorities. The opening represents a significant expansion of aviation capacity for the Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area and addresses growing demand for air travel across Vietnam.

During its initial operational phase, the airport is designed to handle approximately 366 flights per week. Domestic services are projected to account for 322 of these weekly movements, while international carriers will operate 44 services. The phased approach allows airport operators to scale operations gradually as infrastructure reaches full readiness.

The new airport is expected to ease congestion at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Vietnam's busiest aviation hub, and strengthen regional connectivity across Southeast Asia. Long Thanh's development has included proposed traffic management initiatives, including priority corridor arrangements along expressway links connecting the Mekong Delta region to the airport facility.

The project represents a major investment in Vietnam's transportation infrastructure and reflects growing air travel demand from Southeast Asian markets. Officials have prioritized completion of terminal facilities, runway systems, and ground transportation connections ahead of the December 24 launch date.
