The National Assembly's plenary sitting scheduled for the morning of October 27 will focus on examining the draft revised Penal Code, with particular attention to provisions governing time-limited suspensions of operations for certain corporate offences. The implementation resolution will also be debated as part of the ongoing second session of the 16th National Assembly.
The plenary session represents a key moment for lawmakers to review and potentially amend criminal liability frameworks affecting business operations in Vietnam. Discussion of the Penal Code revisions comes amid broader legislative activities, with the National Assembly also preparing to hold live questioning sessions with finance and science ministers scheduled for November 12.
In related parliamentary activity, lawmakers have raised concerns about clarifying licensing authorities for operations in national security work protection corridors. Additionally, legislators are pushing to strengthen foreign direct investment incentive provisions by tying them more directly to technology transfer commitments and domestic output requirements, signalling parliament's focus on ensuring foreign investment benefits the domestic economy.
