Vietnam's stock market watchdog is warning investors to exercise caution after uncovering a widespread fraud scheme exploiting the exchange's name and credentials. The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) said scammers have been illegally using its official branding, images, and logo to lend false credibility to fraudulent schemes.
The fraudsters have gone further by forging seals and signatures of leaders from the State Securities Commission (SSC) to create counterfeit documents, according to HOSE officials. These fabricated materials contain false information about investment authorizations designed to mislead potential victims into parting with their money.
The warning comes as Vietnam's stock market continues to attract growing investor interest, with domestic and international market participants increasingly active in the country's financial sector. The exchange's alert underscores the risks that accompany rapid market growth and the importance of verifying the authenticity of investment opportunities through official channels.
Investors are advised to verify any investment documentation directly with HOSE or SSC through their official contact information before committing funds. The regulators urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspected fraud attempts to authorities immediately.
