Le Hoai Trung, who holds the dual positions of Politburo Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, will oversee preparations for the 12th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation Summit (CLMV 12) and the 11th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit (ACMECS 11).
The appointment underscores Vietnam's commitment to advancing multilateral engagement within the subregion. Both forums serve as platforms for neighboring nations to coordinate policies, discuss economic initiatives, and strengthen political ties across the Mekong region.
CLMV cooperation has centered on enhancing regional integration and addressing shared challenges among the four member states. The grouping has previously focused on tourism promotion, with member countries targeting significant increases in international visitor arrivals to boost economic growth.
ACMECS, meanwhile, brings together countries within the Mekong River basin to coordinate development strategies and foster economic collaboration. The simultaneous organization of both summits reflects Vietnam's central role in driving regional cooperation initiatives and its efforts to strengthen ties with neighboring nations.
