Vietnam's top leader calls for accelerated sports development to strengthen nation

Vietnam's party chief has called for accelerated development of the nation's sports sector, commending the contributions of government agencies, local authorities, sports organizations, coaches, athletes and experts in advancing physical education and athletic programs in recent years.

The leader emphasized that Resolution No. 08, adopted 15 years ago, has served as a crucial political foundation for sports development initiatives across the country. This framework has provided strategic direction for sustained investment and organizational efforts in building competitive athletic capacity.

Looking forward, leadership stressed that Conclusion No. 70 establishes important strategic orientations for the next phase of sports development, signaling a shift toward modernization and institutional reform. Officials indicated that completing an updated institutional framework will be essential to support Vietnam's sports ambitions in the coming period.

The push for enhanced sports development reflects broader national objectives to strengthen public health, foster youth development, and enhance Vietnam's international athletic competitiveness. Authorities are expected to coordinate across sectors to implement the updated strategic directives.
