Vietnam's Top Leader To Lam Embarks on European Diplomatic Tour

To Lam, who holds Vietnam's top positions as General Secretary of the Communist Party Central Committee and President, left the capital on October 19 leading a high-ranking delegation. His wife, Ngo Phuong Ly, joined him for the extended diplomatic mission, which will see Vietnam's leadership engage directly with key European institutions and governments.

The itinerary includes a state visit to Denmark, where To Lam and his delegation are expected to hold bilateral discussions and strengthen economic and political ties. The visit underscores Vietnam's strategic efforts to deepen relationships with Nordic nations and expand its European partnerships beyond traditional engagement channels.

Following the Danish leg of the journey, the delegation will proceed to Brussels for official meetings with European Union leadership. These discussions are anticipated to cover trade relations, investment opportunities, and regional security matters of mutual concern. The stop in Belgium will further allow Vietnam to reinforce its diplomatic presence at the heart of the EU institutional framework.

The multi-destination tour reflects Vietnam's commitment to diversifying its international partnerships and maintaining active engagement with developed economies in Europe. Such high-level visits typically facilitate policy dialogues and create frameworks for enhanced cooperation across economic, cultural, and strategic domains between Vietnam and its European counterparts.
