General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam will undertake a state visit to Denmark in October 2026 at the invitation of King Frederik X and Queen Mary. The Vietnamese leader and his spouse will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation.
The visit marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations, representing the first state visit to Denmark by a Vietnamese General Secretary. It comes as Vietnam and Denmark prepare to commemorate the 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, which was formally established on November 25, 1971.
The state visit underscores the strengthening of ties between Hanoi and Copenhagen across multiple sectors. The diplomatic engagement reflects broader efforts to deepen Vietnam's relationships with European nations and international partners.
Following the Denmark leg of the tour, General Secretary and President To Lam is also scheduled to visit the European Union and Belgium, further expanding the scope of Vietnam's diplomatic engagements in Europe during the planned overseas journey.
