Vietnam's Communist Party General Secretary and President To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and senior government officials, is scheduled to undertake an official visit to the EU institutions and Belgium next October as part of efforts to elevate the two sides' relationship.
The four-day trip, running from October 21 to 24, 2026, represents a significant diplomatic engagement between Hanoi and Brussels. The visit underscores Vietnam's commitment to strengthening political trust and expanding cooperation with the EU, one of its key international partners.
According to Vietnamese officials, the delegation aims to advance the Vietnam-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through concrete and substantive measures. The visit will provide an opportunity to discuss shared interests in trade, investment, security, and regional affairs, reflecting the deepening engagement between the Southeast Asian nation and the European bloc.
The trip comes as Vietnam continues to expand its international partnerships and enhance its role in regional and global affairs. The EU, as a major economic and political player, remains central to Vietnam's diversified foreign policy approach in balancing ties across multiple strategic partners.
