Vietnam's top leadership rolled out the welcome mat for Lao National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane during his visit to Hanoi on November 4, signalling the continued importance of relations between the two neighbouring communist-led states.

Party General Secretary and President To Lam received the visiting Lao official, with discussions centring on ways to reinforce the longstanding partnership between Hanoi and Vientiane. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing what both countries characterise as a great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion.

The high-level engagement reflects ongoing efforts by Vietnam and Laos to strengthen institutional and people-to-people linkages. The talks highlighted the significance of legislative exchanges in advancing bilateral relations, with Vietnam's National Assembly President also participating in discussions with the Lao counterpart.
