Vietnam's top ten brokers hold $10.6 billion in margin loans

Vietnam's ten largest securities companies collectively held $10.6 billion in principal outstanding from margin lending operations during the third quarter of 2026, based on their financial statements and regulatory disclosures filed during the period.

The margin loan portfolio reflects the principal amount advanced to investors and excludes any advances granted against proceeds from securities sales transactions. This metric provides a snapshot of leveraged trading activity among the country's major brokerage firms.

Separately, Vietnam's securities sector continues to attract international participation, with an additional 368 foreign investors obtaining securities trading codes in January, expanding the foreign investor base in the local market.

In a significant development for the regional financial sector, Vietnam has been selected to host the Asian Securities Forum's annual general meeting for the first time, underscoring the country's growing prominence in Asian capital markets infrastructure.
