Vietnam's merchandise trade reached a significant milestone this year, surpassing the 1 trillion USD mark through October as the country accelerates its export momentum and improves its trade balance. October's performance underscored strengthening export dynamics, with the nation recording a 6.8 billion USD trade surplus—marking the second straight month of surplus after registering deficits throughout much of the year.
The cumulative trade deficit for the first ten months of the year has been substantially reduced to around 12.7 billion USD, reflecting improving export competitiveness and stronger demand for Vietnamese goods in key markets. The consecutive months of trade surplus demonstrate that Vietnamese exporters are successfully navigating global market challenges and capitalizing on shifting supply chain dynamics.
The milestone underscores Vietnam's position as a critical node in regional and global trade networks. With trade volume already exceeding 1 trillion USD before year-end, Vietnam remains on track to achieve robust annual trade figures and narrow its overall deficit further in coming months.
Vietnamese manufacturers and exporters have increasingly raised product standards and diversified markets to remain competitive, positioning the country to capitalize on structural shifts in international commerce. Policy support for export-oriented industries and investment in manufacturing capabilities continue to strengthen Vietnam's trade performance heading into the final quarter of the year.
