Vietnam and Saskatchewan have moved to deepen their labour cooperation framework through a landmark agreement addressing worker recruitment practices. The arrangement marks a significant step in facilitating employment opportunities for Vietnamese nationals seeking work in the Canadian province.

A central component of the cooperation involves the allocation of recruitment responsibilities and costs. Under the terms discussed, Vietnamese workers will be relieved of financial burdens typically associated with overseas employment, including recruitment fees and international airfare from Vietnam to Saskatchewan. These expenses will instead be borne entirely by employers operating in the province.

The cost-sharing arrangement reflects efforts by both jurisdictions to streamline labour mobility and ensure fair practices for Vietnamese workers. By shifting financial responsibility to employers, the agreement aims to reduce barriers to employment and attract qualified workers to Saskatchewan's labour market.

The cooperation builds on existing bilateral relations between Vietnam and Canada, creating pathways for Vietnamese citizens to access employment opportunities while protecting worker interests. Saskatchewan has positioned itself as an active participant in international labour recruitment, seeking to address workforce needs across various sectors.

The agreement represents a broader commitment to strengthening Vietnam-Canada ties across multiple cooperation areas, with labour mobility emerging as a key pillar of expanding bilateral engagement.
