Vietnam seeks coordinated logistics strategy to cut costs, boost efficiency

Reducing logistics costs across Vietnam requires a coordinated approach involving integrated planning, strategic investment, synchronized operations and improved data sharing among stakeholders, industry experts emphasized. Current challenges stem partly from separate infrastructure development projects that fail to account for regional demand patterns and stable cargo flows, resulting in inefficient resource deployment and duplicative facilities. The Vietnam Logistics Forum 2026, scheduled for early November, is expected to bring together key players to discuss solutions. Tay Ninh province has announced plans to establish at least three logistics centres by 2030, while Hai Phong is developing an integrated logistics hub aimed at strengthening the region's marine economy. These provincial initiatives underscore growing recognition of logistics infrastructure's critical role in supporting Vietnam's economic competitiveness. However, experts stress that such projects must be aligned with broader regional strategies rather than pursued in isolation to maximize efficiency and minimize wasted investment.
