Vietnam is pursuing closer strategic engagement with Belarus across multiple sectors, according to remarks by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung. The Vietnamese leader expressed support for Belarus's development trajectory under President Aleksandr Lukashenko's administration and noted growing momentum in the bilateral relationship.
The strengthening of Vietnam-Belarus ties has accelerated following the May 2025 state visit by Nguyen Van Chi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam's Central Committee, to Minsk. During that diplomatic mission, both nations recommitted to expanding cooperation across political, military, and economic domains.
Defence collaboration has emerged as a focal point in the relationship, with both countries intensifying military exchanges and coordination. Additionally, Vietnam and Belarus have prioritized deepening cooperation in military-political education, reflecting shared institutional interests and ideological alignment.
The two nations are actively exploring pathways to elevate their partnership to a more comprehensive strategic level. Officials from both sides have indicated commitment to broadening cooperation frameworks beyond traditional security sectors, signaling Vietnam's broader diplomatic outreach in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
