Vietnam is moving to strengthen financial ties with Luxembourg through enhanced cooperation in green finance and institutional capacity-building, according to remarks by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung. The Vietnamese leader proposed that Luxembourg share its experience and knowledge across several key areas, including institutional development frameworks, fund and asset management practices, green finance mechanisms, and financial supervision standards. The initiative reflects Hanoi's broader efforts to develop its financial services sector and attract international expertise as it positions itself as a regional financial hub. Under the proposed framework, Luxembourg would also support human resources development and training programs for Vietnamese financial professionals. The cooperation aims to connect Luxembourg-based financial institutions with Vietnam International Financial Centre's growing ecosystem, facilitating technology transfer and institutional linkages. The proposal signals Vietnam's openness to learning from established financial centres while building capacity in emerging areas such as green finance, which has become increasingly important for Southeast Asia's sustainable development goals. The move aligns with Vietnam's recent efforts to cultivate financial relationships with multiple advanced economies, including Panama, the Netherlands, and Qatar.
