Vietnam sets sights on 10% growth target for 2027 amid stability push

Vietnam aims to achieve economic growth of no less than 10% in 2027 while safeguarding macroeconomic stability and keeping inflation in check, according to discussions at the National Assembly plenary on October 30.

The growth target was presented during the 16th National Assembly's second session, reflecting policymakers' confidence in Vietnam's economic trajectory. The dual focus on robust expansion and financial stability underscores the government's commitment to sustaining long-term development while avoiding overheating in the economy.

Controlling inflation remains a cornerstone of the strategy, with lawmakers emphasizing the need for prudent monetary and fiscal policies to support the ambitious growth objective without compromising price stability.

During the same parliamentary session, lawmakers also weighed adjustments to land price tables and coefficients, while separately discussing proposed changes to corporate liability frameworks and criminal penalties under a broader Penal Code overhaul. Finance and science ministers are scheduled to face live parliamentary questioning on November 12.
