Vietnam sets strict standards for APEC 2027 infrastructure projects
National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man has outlined three key requirements for major development initiatives ahead of Vietnam's hosting of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week in 2027. The directive comes as Phu Quoc Island accelerates work on critical infrastructure including airport expansion and a new urban railway system.

Tran Thanh Man conducted an inspection tour of major APEC 2027 projects in the Mekong Delta region, where he established three foundational principles—referred to as the "three no's"—to guide construction efforts. The standards are intended to ensure projects meet quality benchmarks while adhering to fiscal discipline and environmental safeguards.
Key infrastructure initiatives under review include the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, upgrades to provincial road DT.975, the first phase of an urban railway network, the APEC Boulevard development, and construction of a dedicated APEC Convention Centre. These projects are considered essential to Vietnam's capacity to host the 2027 summit.
An Giang Province, which encompasses Phu Quoc Island, has intensified security and administrative preparations for the event. Officials are prioritizing the resolution of infrastructure bottlenecks that could impede project timelines, with particular focus on coordinating transport links and ensuring construction quality across all venues.
The inspection underscores Vietnam's commitment to delivering world-class facilities for the economic forum while maintaining stringent oversight of public expenditure and environmental compliance. Construction timelines remain on track to meet the 2027 deadline.
