Vietnam should prioritize quantum security and workforce development, expert says

Vietnam has significant opportunities to establish itself in quantum technology by concentrating efforts on security-focused applications and building domestic expertise, according to analysis from US-based researchers and international experts.

Within the next three to five years, Vietnam could develop and commercialize quantum-based products and services tailored to regional needs. Priority areas include post-quantum cryptography migration services, quantum random number generator devices, and quantum sensor applications for subsurface infrastructure surveys in transport and related sectors.

International collaborators have highlighted the importance of establishing a robust national quantum ecosystem to support long-term development. Israeli experts have emphasized that a coordinated national framework is essential for Vietnam to master quantum technology competencies and compete effectively in this emerging field.

Vietnam's quantum ambitions are being supported through international partnerships, including ongoing cooperation initiatives with France and collaborative research programs with Japanese specialists. These partnerships provide Vietnam with access to global expertise while developing a strategic roadmap suited to its unique technological and economic circumstances.

Building a strong quantum workforce through education and research infrastructure development remains critical to Vietnam's ability to transform these near-term commercial opportunities into a sustainable competitive advantage in the quantum economy.
