Vietnam showcases culture, tourism potential across Russia's Far East

Vietnam is expanding its cultural footprint in Russia's Far East through multiple initiatives designed to introduce Vietnamese heritage, cuisine and economic opportunities to regional audiences. The coordinated efforts reflect growing interest in deepening bilateral relations beyond traditional political and diplomatic channels, with organisers emphasising the potential for expanded tourism and business partnerships.

Educational exchanges form a key component of the outreach strategy. A Vietnamese-language programme has commenced its academic year in the region, providing Russian students with opportunities to study Vietnamese language and culture. Separately, Vietnamese students are competing in the Global HackAtom 2026 finals in Russia, showcasing the country's technological talent and innovation capabilities to international audiences.

Tourism infrastructure improvements are also accelerating bilateral engagement. A newly established direct flight service from Russia to Phu Quoc recently carried more than 370 tourists, signalling growing appetite among Russian travellers for Vietnamese destinations. The route is expected to facilitate increased visitor numbers and strengthen economic ties between the two countries' tourism sectors.

Official statements indicate the broader initiative seeks to position Vietnam as an attractive destination while simultaneously presenting investment and trading opportunities to Russian partners. Organisers aim to leverage cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections as foundations for expanded cooperation across multiple economic sectors.
