Vietnam's Commission for Internal Affairs Chairman Le Minh Tri has commended South Korea's progress in combating corruption, signaling Hanoi's intent to leverage Seoul's experience as the two countries expand their bilateral relationship across multiple sectors.
During recent high-level discussions, Le stressed that Vietnam's pursuit of double-digit economic growth in 2026 and beyond requires anti-corruption efforts that extend beyond detecting and punishing violations. Instead, such initiatives must actively support broader development objectives, he said.
The renewed focus on anti-corruption cooperation forms part of a wider deepening of Vietnam-South Korea ties. Parliamentary delegations have exchanged visits to strengthen economic and legislative collaboration, while cultural and historical exchange programs underscore an 800-year-old connection between the nations.
Media cooperation also features prominently in the bilateral agenda, with South Korea's National Assembly Deputy Speaker commending the role of Vietnam News Agency and Yonhap in facilitating understanding and dialogue between the two countries.
Analysts note the timing reflects both nations' efforts to build institutional credibility while pursuing accelerated economic development in a competitive regional landscape.
