Vietnam, South Korea mark eight centuries of cultural ties with global exchange

The "Quy Long" initiative commemorates a pivotal moment in bilateral history when a Vietnamese prince and his family left Bac Ninh province to establish themselves on the Korean Peninsula, creating the foundation for lasting people-to-people connections that persist today. The global exchange event seeks to honor this ancient link while fostering contemporary cultural understanding between the two countries.
Vietnam and South Korea have substantially strengthened their relationship in recent decades. South Korea has emerged as one of Vietnam's top foreign investors, with nearly 103 billion USD in registered capital, signaling robust economic engagement alongside cultural initiatives.
Recent diplomatic activities underscore the deepening partnership. Vietnam has showcased its cultural identity at South Korean festivals, while both nations have enhanced coordination and experience-sharing mechanisms in their joint organization of regional events, including their APEC Year responsibilities. These multifaceted exchanges reflect efforts to build on historical foundations with contemporary collaboration across cultural, economic, and diplomatic spheres.
