Vietnam is closely examining China's approach to managing Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) financial initiatives as it gears up to assume the rotating host role in 2027. Finance Minister Ngo Van Tuan commended China's Ministry of Finance for its effective organization of the APEC Finance Ministers' Process (FMP) throughout 2026, highlighting the platform's role in strengthening economic and financial ties across the region.

The Finance Ministers' Process serves as a key mechanism for coordinating policy responses to regional challenges and fostering dialogue on critical financial issues among APEC's 21 member economies. By studying China's management of the 2026 agenda, Vietnam aims to ensure continuity while charting its own priorities for deepening cooperation among member states.

Vietnam's preparations for APEC 2027 extend beyond financial policy coordination. Recent initiatives have included workshops on emerging policy challenges, such as establishing responsible frameworks for artificial intelligence governance—a growing concern for regional economies navigating rapid technological change.

Khanh Hoa province, a major destination in central Vietnam, has begun infrastructure and logistical preparations to support the high-level meetings and events expected during APEC Year 2027. The hosting of APEC represents a significant opportunity for Vietnam to elevate its profile in regional affairs and advance its development priorities on the international stage.
